ADDLE TWINTONE
MY STORY
From Then to Now
It all began from an elementary Scholastic book fair.

Something about the dozens of different covers, styles and length of books caught my attention. I had only been exposed to crosswords, newspaper comics or coloring books. So they had an immediate draw. They were the driving force that caused me to pick up a pencil and learn how to draw. From there, I would read about the different artists who helped create the books I was learning from. But a strange urge began to take over. I needed more.

In middle school, the urge to consume adventures began to build like a hunger that couldn't be satisfied. No matter what I read or learned, it wasn't enough. My first attempts at writing were born from this unending hunger. While they were mediocre, they were still something I was proud of.

On one fated day, I came across a small rotating book rack tucked away at the end of an aisle. It was filled with romance novels and horror stories sprinkled around. But one cover stuck out. It was a copy of the Writers and Illustrators of the Future. A compilation of short stories and pictures chosen to be published by aspiring writers and artists. Reading these stories, discovering the contest, the workshops, is what ignited my fire.

And so, my first "novel" was born during the first year in high school. It was in dire need of editing, along with story structure, yet it held a certain accomplishment. To say the flame of creation erupted into a fiery volcano would be an understatement. Knowing I could write a novel further pushed me to continue. By the time I graduated, I had created three separate novels. Two of which were part of a series. However, they were not enough to catch the attention of publishers. Despite the countless rejections or emails saying my work wasn't a good fit for them, I continued to write in my spare time.

In February of 2024, my first novel was officially published via Amazon. I had become an indie author. The starting line for a long journey forward was finally a step behind me. There are more stories waiting to be created. More worlds and creatures to discover. I hope to continue creating stories for as long as my body allows.
